Thermal vs normal optics

I have used normal optics most of my shooting life but about 8 months ago decided to enter down the thermal road. First bought a Nighttech Thermal monocular and that opened up a whole new world. Saw animals at distances the old spot light couldn’t and didn’t disturb the animals at all. Then moved to a thermal scope and that added another level. We were recently creeping up to mobs of pigs and getting to 10 metres or less and they were completely unaware. Conditions were in our favour as well which helped but I stood there for ages just watching them. Shot this sow as she started walking towards me and would have walked right into me i‘m sure. You can see by the image I’m not a photographer at all :)

Each to their own but for me thermals for night shooting have made a big difference to effective shooting.
